Christmas Time

Canada/Montreal, Christmas Time!
Although the month and date of Jesus' birth are unknown, by the early-to-mid fourth century the Western Christian Church had placed Christmas on December 25, a date that was later adopted in the East.Today, most Christians celebrate on December 25 in the Gregorian calendar, which has been adopted almost universally in the civil calendars used in countries throughout the world.
However, some Eastern Christian Churches celebrate Christmas on December 25 of the older Julian calendar, which currently corresponds to January 7 in the Gregorian calendar, the day after the Western Christian Church celebrates the Epiphany. This is not a disagreement over the date of Christmas as such, but rather a preference of which calendar should be used to determine the day that is December 25.

Cold snowy winter started

Canada/Montreal, Cold snowy winter started.
Winter brings cold, snowy, windy, and, at times, icy weather, with a daily average ranging from −9 in January. However, some winter days rise above freezing with rain.
Usually, snow covering some or all bare ground lasts on average from the first or second week of December until the last week of March. While the air temperature does not fall below −30 °C every year, the wind chill often makes the temperature feel this low to exposed skin.

Montreal Forum

Canada/Montreal, Montreal Forum!
Montreal Forum (Le Forum de Montréal), the most storied building in hockey history, was an indoor arena located facing Cabot Square. It was the home of the Montreal Canadiens - HABS - from 1926 to 1996. The club's official name is le Club de hockey Canadien. The Forum was built in 159 days. Located at the northeast corner of Atwater and Ste-Catherine West, the building was historically significant as it was home to 24 Stanley Cup championships (22 of the Canadiens and two of the Montreal Maroons, for whom the arena was originally built).
It was then completely gutted and converted into a downtown entertainment center called the Pepsi Forum, consisting of an AMC Theatres multiplex theater (now Cineplex Odeon), shops and restaurants. Center ice has been recreated in the center of the complex complete with a small section of the grandstand, along with a statue of a fan leaning forward in delight, while original seats are used as benches throughout the complex.

Happy Halloween

Canada/Montreal, Happy Halloween!
Halloween is a celebration observed in a number of countries on 31 October. It is widely believed that many Halloween traditions originated from ancient Celtic harvest festivals, particularly the Gaelic festival Samhain; that such festivals may have had pagan roots; and that Samhain itself was Christianized as Halloween by the early Church.
Halloween activities include trick-or-treating (or the related guising), attending Halloween costume parties, carving pumpkins into jack-o'-lanterns, lighting bonfires, apple bobbing, divination games, playing pranks, visiting haunted attractions, telling scary stories, and watching horror films.
Homes are often decorated with elements of the autumn season, such as pumpkins, corn husks, and scarecrows, are also prevalent. Halloween imagery includes themes of death, evil, and mythical monsters. Black, orange, and sometimes purple are Halloween's traditional colors.

La Mauricie National Park

Canada/La Mauricie National Park,
The Pines Island (Île aux pins) in the middle of Lake Wapizagonke in La Mauricie National Park (Parc national de la Mauricie).
The park's forests have regrown and contain a mixture of conifers and mixed deciduous trees. Parks forests were once dominated by white pine. Logging in the 21st century and forest fires have contributed to a major decrease; today white pine accounts for only 1% of the trees of the park. To overcome this scarcity, the park has conducted prescribed burns since 1994 in order to eliminate competing species and facilitate the germination of seedlings.

Squirrel & French fries

Canada/Montreal, A squirrel is eating a french fries!
Squirrels cannot digest cellulose, so they must rely on foods rich in protein, carbohydrates, and fats. In temperate regions, early spring is the hardest time of year for squirrels, because buried nuts begin to sprout and are no longer available for the squirrel to eat, and new food sources have not become available yet. During these times, squirrels rely heavily on the buds of trees. Squirrels' diets consist primarily of a wide variety of plants, including nuts, seeds, conifer cones, fruits, fungi, and green vegetation. However, some squirrels also consume meat, especially when faced with hunger. Squirrels have been known to eat insects, eggs, small birds, young snakes, and smaller rodents.

Laval Sunset

Canada/Laval, Sunset!
During sunset, as a ray of white sunlight travels through the atmosphere to an observer, some of the colors are scattered out of the beam by air molecules and airborne particles, changing the final color of the beam the viewer sees. Because the shorter wavelength components, such as blue and green, scatter more strongly, these colors are preferentially removed from the beam. At sunset, when the path through the atmosphere is longer, the blue and green components are removed almost completely, leaving the longer wavelength orange and red hues we see at those times. The remaining reddened sunlight can then be scattered by cloud droplets and other relatively large particles to light up the horizon red and orange.

Fresh Almond

Canada/Montreal, Fresh Almond!
Fresh Almond fruit is at the beginning of the tree, which is somewhat rigid and its outer cortex is green and covered with delicate fluff. Inside it is a veil that is white and soft and holds the juicy and thin almond brains. The almond shells are harder to find, and the almonds are also found in their final shape. Since the fruit is young and is still not full-fledged, it is called almonds. This is only available at the beginning of spring, if it is left until summer and it will turn into almonds.

Happy Nowruz

Canada/Montreal, Happy Nowruz!
Nowruz (literally "new day") is the name of the Iranian New Year, also known as the Persian New Year, which is celebrated worldwide by the Iranians, along with some other ethno-linguistic groups, as the beginning of the New Year.
Although having Iranian and religious Zoroastrian origins, Nowruz has been celebrated by people from diverse ethno-linguistic communities. It has been celebrated for over 3,000 years in Western Asia, Central Asia, the Caucasus, the Black Sea Basin, and the Balkans. It is a secular holiday for most celebrants that is enjoyed by people of several different faiths.
Nowruz is the day of the vernal equinox, and marks the beginning of spring in the Northern Hemisphere. It marks the first day of the first month (Farvardin) in the Iranian calendar. It usually occurs on March 21 or the previous or following day, depending on where it is observed. The moment the sun crosses the celestial equator and equalizes night and day is calculated exactly every year, and families gather together to observe the rituals.
